So I got the Canon S100 as an after Christmas/early Birthday present. In case you’re wondering if this is the camera for you, I’ll give you my first thoughts. You should know that I’ve had a number of Canon point and shoot cameras. My last one had a run in with something sticky and is now unreliable in the shutter department. When it comes to SLR cameras, I have and have always had a Nikon. So I can’t compare the little guy to the big guys in terms of ease of use switching between the two. Right out of the box, I have to say, it’s gorgeous. Light. Has a wonderful texture that makes it a pleasure to hold. And the image quality seems quite superior to my previous model, now a number of years old.
The is a bit of a learning curve, as I’m used to having much less ability to make manual adjustments. I’m going to have to dust off my notes on shooting outside of the automatic mode.
The very coolest thing are some in-camera effects settings.
Like Fish eye.
The only complaint I have is that this camera is very right-handed in it’s design. The placement of the strap and the pop-up flash will definitely take some getting used to for this lefty.
Hopefully the next pics will be better. These ones are from the first 25 taken on the camera.
Oh – and please excuse the messy house. Something you’ll be hearing a lot for me.
We have a messy house.
That’s how I roll.
