Drunken Italian Noodles and a Green Thumb

Mommydo.com | Drunken Italian Noodles |Easy pasta recipe that's perfect for entertaining | uses fresh ingredients | 30 min or less

I just realized I haven’t posted about these noodles. Wha? I can’t believe you could have been eating these for months and instead I’ve been keeping this AMAZING recipe to myself. I feel like a bit of a jerk about that. How good are they? I now have a plant – AN ACTUAL PLANT – so I always have fresh basil to make this specific recipe. So, so good. I’m pulling the recipe from here at The Cozy Apron. If you try them and like them as much as I do – (you know, ‘go out and get the only…

Need a little Sunshine? Maybe these will help…

I have a friend who’s called me Lemonie for years and I happen to LOVE lemon, so when I saw this recipe on Pinterest I had to try it. Lemonies (From Rita’s Recipes) Lemon Brownies 3/4 C flour 3/4 C sugar 1/4 t salt 1 stick butter, soft 2 eggs juice from 1/2 lemon (about 1T) zest from 1/2 lemon (about 1t) Combine the flour, sugar and salt in a large bowl. Meal Plan Follow-Up: Slow Cooker Pulled Chicken Tacos

On Sunday, I talked about my new commitment to meal planning. I mentioned this weeks plan had me making Slow Cooker Pulled Chicken Tacos from this recipe from Dinner With Julie. Let me tell you, it is both easy and delicious. The meat is so tender and so tasty. Husband couldn’t believe it was a 5-ingredient dish! Took me maybe 10 minutes to get it ready – and that includes pulling the recipe up online and digging out the slow cooker. We made soft-shelled tacos with avocado, cheese (lactose-free for me), salsa and fresh tomato. It’s only as I type…

Just in the St. Nick of time

Wow! Everything seems to get done at the last minute around here lately. But I’m happy to say that BOTH kids will have an advent calendar this year. I squeezed out an extra day, as the boy is visiting grandparents tonight, so although it’s not hung, it’s ready to go. I got the idea from Lindsay over at Little House Blog a few years ago here and have enjoyed filling it ever since. Here it is handing last winter. I needed to make one for Obi so I went back to Little House Blog and used this free printable to…

Police Themed Birthday Party

A few weekends ago we hosted the boy’s Fourth Birthday Party. Given his current obsession with Lego and Police, choosing a theme wasn’t an issue… As I posted a few days ago, the theme started to come to life with these great wanted posters from 733blog.   Even the littlest Crook got in the spirit! But what’s a party without snacks? I created these great Lego head Marshmallow pops that I found the tutorial for here. I used a half mini marshmallow for the head and cake decorator gel for the face. Now you can’t have a party without cake. And…

Adventures in Advent 1: Adapting

So my Sis (STOP READING NOW SIS) is embracing a sugar free life. But we’re both big fans of advent and this year, the Starbucks advent calendar. But what’s the fun in opening a calendar when you can’t enjoy the spoils? So I took it up on myself to adapt the calendar to include non-food trinkets. I tried to do this on a tight budget as the calendar itself is a little spendy. So cool though…the tins are sitting on a magnetic chalk board with a simple wooden frame. Nice! You should reveal a caramel each day…but instead my sis…

Birthday Parties, I made it from Pinterest, Parenting

I learned something about my little guy.

The boy isn’t a big party guy, despite my pulling out all the stops this past weekend. Like, spent the whole party saying “I want to go home!” I’m working on a post about the party, my new lens and other goodness, but in the meantime, that there is the grumpy guest of honour. I got this superfab idea and template for the sign here at 733blog.com. melanie

What makes you feel like a winner?

For me, these days, it’s trying a new recipe and having it turn out to be as good as the picture looks. For one lucky blog commenter, it’s winning the stamp of their choice! For a little more on the stamp winner, scroll to the bottom of the post. This weekend I tried 2 recipes from Pinterest and BOTH were great. There’s no point in showing my photos since the original posters’ look far more appetizing. I have to say both of these will be part of the regular rotation around here. They def get the MOMMYDO two thumbs up….

Pinspired – Halloween Edition (and GIVEAWAY reminder)

I went looking for food ideas for Halloween. I pinned them. Then, instead of forgetting all about them and opening some chips and goldfish crackers, I tried them. Two worked great. One, not so much.
