The long overdue review of Stokke Crusi

I’ve had the Stokke Crusi for about a year now, give or take. Which is a long time to take to get around to a review. I discovered the Stokke brand in 2009 when I was preparing for the arrival of the Bubble and googled best stroller for bad back. Up popped the Xplory. I was instantly sold, despite the hefty price tag. Fast forward to April 2013. After a long winter of being stuck inside with obviously not typically developing Obi hiding out from RSV season, I set about getting a new Xplory. I already had an upgraded seat…

Mommydo’s 5-Minute Face

This fab combo is my current go-to to take off 5 years and make it look like I got 5 more hours of sleep. A sensitive skin friendly, blemish banishing, fine-line fighting super set of cosmetics that you can put on in a flash and dash out the door. The tinted moisturizer is SPF 30 (awesome) and the Benefit lip stuff makes my lips feel all soft and velvety. This isn’t a sponsored post or anything (of course if NARS or BENEFIT want to replenish my stash, that would be FAB), just a quick note to let other time-starved-who-has-time-for-makeup-but-when-did-I-get-so-old-and-tired-looking-geez-maybe-I-should-do-something-about-that women…

Stop riding that penguin.

The words “Stop riding that penguin, we have to leave” actually came out of my mouth as I tried to hustle our 4 year old out the door the other day. He was bobbing around on one of these, much to Obi’s dismay.   But that’s not the funny part. As soon as the words were spoken, I giggled, remembering this poster that I pinned on Pinterest a few years ago. https://www.etsy.com/listing/95865884/things-ive-said-to-my-children-penguin?ref=tre-2722984995-1 At the time I thought it was hilarious. Now that it actually applies, I think I might just have to order one. This guy – who has a…

Adventures in Advent 1: Adapting

So my Sis (STOP READING NOW SIS) is embracing a sugar free life. But we’re both big fans of advent and this year, the Starbucks advent calendar. But what’s the fun in opening a calendar when you can’t enjoy the spoils? So I took it up on myself to adapt the calendar to include non-food trinkets. I tried to do this on a tight budget as the calendar itself is a little spendy. So cool though…the tins are sitting on a magnetic chalk board with a simple wooden frame. Nice! You should reveal a caramel each day…but instead my sis…

Crispy Waffles

Waffles are a Sunday morning fav around here. The boy eats them and I don’t mind whipping up a batch in the early hours. They are dead simple, fairly low on the sweet factor…until the syrup anyway. MOMMYDO WAFFLE TIP: Cool your waffles on a wire rack instead of in a stack to have a yummy crisp crust on both sides. Yes, these are a little ‘homey’ looking, but they taste fab. Super easy too. My favourite recipe is here, and takes about 5 min plus cooking time. I use a big whisk instead of the hand blender as I…

Sometimes I dream about these at night. Homemade Peppermint Patties

Like last night for instance. Why does Christmas baking only happen once a year (and not at freakin’ Thanksgiving)? And yes, I could just make them now, but then I’d eat them all and they would lose some of their magic. Holiday treat magic… Anyway, now you can dream about them too. Or make them…so, so good. Here’s the recipe! Good old Eagle Brand. For reasons I can’t explain I can eat these despite my lactose intolerance. Many, many of them. All in one sitting. Peppermint Patties Servings: about 8 dozen Serving Size: Nutrition: See Below Prep Time: 20 Minutes…

Seat Reveiw: Stokke Newborn Set (for Tripp Trapp)

I sound like a broken record whenever I talk about how much I love the Stokke brand. One ‘must have’ on the splurge list (in my humble opinion) is the Newborn set for the Stokke Tripp Trapp. One of the biggest challenges I found with both babes is “where can I put the baby down?” This time around we have the added complication of a 3 year old who thinks ‘gentle’ is a suggestion making our low-to-the-floor options risky choices when he’s around. I have to tell you we have used this particular item EVERY DAY since baby Obi was…

I love it when things come in the mail

This new ‘subscription box’ craze makes me very happy. But, there are so few that I like that actually ship to Canada. Lucky for me, a local Mom, and I mean really local – like, basically in my neighbourhood – started a fantastic subscription service called MommiesFirst. They ship monthly to expectant mommies and new moms through baby’s first year. I have it on good authority that they’re looking to expand into the toddler years soon. My fingers are crossed that ‘soon’ means January. Anyhoo, I thought I’d take a stab at creating a video and taped the ‘Unboxing’ of…
